WILMINGTON — After bringing Ben Folds and multiple Western North Carolina musicians to the Greenfield Lake Amphitheater stage last week, the city has announced the success of its fundraising concert.

Roughly $100,000 will go toward the North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund to help communities devastated by the aftereffects of Helene, the City of Wilmington announced. The storm, which reached tropical storm status by the time it reached the mountainous region of the state after making landfall as a Category 4 in Florida, has caused at least $53 billion in damages and recovery needs in North Carolina.

According to the city, there are still donations coming in as well.

The show, dubbed “From Wilmington, With Love,” included a cover of James Taylor’s “Carolina In My Mind,” sung by Folds, Jim Lauderdale, Moonshine State, Caleb Caudle & the Sweet Critters, and Josh Goforth. It was recorded at the show, with the “People of the City of Wilmington, NC” included as backup singers.

According to the city, there are plans for its release with proceeds also donated to the cleanup efforts.
