WILMINGTON — A series produced and shot in Wilmington that wasn’t greenlit for a second season is hosting a set sale this month.
Costumes, props, set decoration, and fun specialty items will sold from the production of Amazon MGM’s “The Runarounds.” It will be hosted mid-month, June 12 through 15, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at 1325 Castle Hayne Road; cash only is accepted.
“The Runarounds” — made up of real-life musicians William Lipton, Axel Ellis, Zende Murdock, Jesse Golliher, and Jeremy Yun — followed the story of a young group of musicians who graduate high school and set off to make it big in the music industry. Along the way, they find love, endure growing pangs and learn about early adulthood chaos.

Creator Jonas Pate — best known for Netflix’s hit show “Outer Banks” — began writing the script a few years ago. The Runarounds first performed on an episode of the popular Netflix series but have toured and recorded an album.
The series highlights many Wilmington area landmarks, from downtown to the beach, and even the rural countryside. Though the series wasn’t picked up, the band told Port City Daily earlier this spring at Charleston’s High Water Festival it will continue making music.
“Regardless of what was going to happen with the TV show, we were always just gonna band it, whether we go for five seasons or one season. It’s been quite a while since the TV show came out, so we’ve had a little bit of time to wrap our heads around, like yes or no. So not exactly the most shocking thing in the world, but here we are, and we’re just going to keep doing our thing,” Murdock said in April.
