SOUTHEASTERN N.C. — As local communities and governments prepare for an increased number of novel coronavirus infections and cases of COVID-19 (the disease caused by the virus), there will indubitably be closings and cancellations and, if the situation gets more serious, possible restrictions on travel and curfews.

- Azalea Festival — All events canceled (some may be rescheduled)
- Cape Fear Museum — Experience STEM-ILM 2.0 canceled
- St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival — City of Wilmington
- Brunswick Concert Band, Spring Concert — March 14 event canceled
- Lifepoint Church (Pine Valley and Leland) — Services canceled for weekend of March 14 and March 15 (online services will be streamed)
- St. Andrews-Covenant Presbyterian Church — ‘Sinatra Sampler,’ March 14 canceled
- Southport Spring Festival April 10 and 11 — Canceled
- Good Shepherd Center, Empty Bowls 2020 — March 20 event canceled
- Scottish Heritage Day, Moores Creek Battlefield — March 28 event canceled
- St. Patrick’s Day parade — March 14, canceled
- Beer, Bourbon & BBQ Festival — March 21, canceled
- Seafood Blues and Jazz Festival — April 18, canceled
- Herb and Garden Fair, Orton Planation — rescheduled to May 2 and 3
Schools
- All North Carolina public K-12 schools canceled, March 16 – 27
- UNCW most in-person classes — Canceled starting March 20 or earlier
- CFCC —- Spring Break extended through March 23, transitioning to online classes where possible after that
- BCCC — Closed to non-essential staff, students, and visitors, on-line classes where possible through March 29, athletics and events canceled through at least the end of the month
Government
- North Carolina District and Superior Courts (including Brunswick, New Hanover, and Pender counties) — Most court dates canceled from Monday, March 16 (resuming Monday, April 12)
- New Hanover County Senior Resource Center — Suspended for at least two weeks, starting March 16
Organizations
- Vietnam Veterans of America (Chapter 885), has canceled office hours and participation in all upcoming events until further notice.
- Lower Cape Fear LifeCare has canceled all events, including grief groups and community meetings, through April 30.
Local sports
- Wilmington Hammerheads Youth FC — Canceled through March 23
- NHCS athletics — In-conference games only, other games canceled
- Brunswick County Parks — All youth league sports canceled
Travel
There are currently no local travel bans. International passenger travel to Europe has been frozen for 30 days by President Donald Trump.
The Wilmington International Airport is maintaining a webpage to address travel issues here. Airport officials note that specific flight information will come through the airlines directly.
