WILMINGTON — Ray Edward Humphries, 76, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2020. He was born July 10, 1943, in Wilmington to Earl and Loma O’Briant Humphries.
Ray worked in the information technology field in the Durham and Roxboro area for 20 years before returning to Wilmington in 1983. In 2010, he retired from UNCW after 27 years of service. He was devoted to his family. Ray was a member of College Acres Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Linda of 55 years; daughter, Sandra Humphries Roberts; son, Scott (Julie) Humphries; three grandchildren, Luke Roberts, Cooper Humphries and Ethan Humphries; and two sisters, Gayle H. Lamb and Rebecca H. Smith.
Visitation with family will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 14, at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel, College Road. A funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. with a graveside service immediately following at Greenlawn Memorial Park, located at the corner of 17th Street and Shipyard Boulevard.
Flowers have been provided by the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lower Cape Fear LifeCare (Hospice), 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401-7335.
