“As saddened as I was that this last flight couldn’t take place, I can find solace in knowing that so many people got a quick glimpse into the life of a man I was blessed to be able to call my friend and that Captain Brady is now where he deserves to be; high above and with his beloved Sally and son Robert.”

WILMINGTON—Captain John Brady has two loves; his late wife Sally, and the view from a cockpit.

The 97-year-old World War II veteran flew planes his entire life. Boeing 727s, B-24 bombers, you name it. He wants to fly one last time.

Listen to Captain Brady’s story below.

Nowadays, Capt. Brady spends his time off Beasley Road. The activities director of Coastal Cove of Wilmington, Stash Figlewski, wants to help Brady get back in the sky.

“The dream for me for him is that he would be allowed to find a little space up in the cockpit and just be able to see the world from where he saw it for 32,000 hours from,” Figlewski said.
