WILMINGTON — The following is a breakdown of how taxes in the City of Wilmington are broken down, and where the city gets its revenues. Each Fiscal Year begins July 1 and ends June 30 of the following year.

Property Tax

  • The highest revenue source for the City of Wilmington
  • In Fiscal Year 2017 the property tax rate was $0.485 per $100 of valuation
  • In Fiscal Year 2017 the city collected $66 million in property tax

Sales Tax

  • Second highest revenue source for the city
  • In Fiscal Year 2017 the city collected $23 million from sales tax
