UPDATED: Wilmington man arrested in connection with knife assault in Leland

Detectives with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office have arrested a Wilmington man who was wanted in connection with an assault that injured a 49-year-old man in Leland.

Dustin Brandon Taylor, 21, of Middle Sound Loop Road, was arrested Wednesday night, charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill in connection with an assault with a knife at about 5 p.m. Tuesday on Leland School Road in Leland, according to sheriff’s office spokeswoman Emily Flax.

The 49-year-old victim suffered a cut to his arm, Flax said. According to warrants, the victim was cut with a “brown and silver curved blade knife.”

The victim was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center for treatment, Flax said.

Taylor was taken to the Brunswick County jail and placed under a $30,000 secured bond.
