HAMPSTEAD — Gladys Inez Malloch, lovingly known as “Inez,” passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026, in Hampstead, North Carolina, at the age of 94. Born on May 29, 1931, in Greenville County, South Carolina, Inez lived a life full of love, adventure, and dedication to her family.
Inez was a devoted homemaker, cherishing every moment spent caring for her home and family. Her nurturing spirit was the foundation of her household, and she took immense pride in creating a warm and welcoming environment for all who entered.
An avid reader, Inez especially enjoyed immersing herself in the romantic worlds created by Danielle Steel. Whether through her Kindle or bound books, she found solace and joy in storytelling. Her love for travel took her on many adventures, from the lush landscapes of Hawaii to the vibrant cultures experienced on numerous cruises. Among all her travels, her trip to her dream destination, Ireland, held a special place in her heart.
Inez possessed a playful spirit and enjoyed testing her luck at the casinos, where she sometimes celebrated big wins. Her zest for life and willingness to embrace new experiences were evident to all who knew her.
Her faith was an integral part of her life. Inez was a member of Saluda Hill Baptist Church in Cleveland, SC, where her beliefs were nurtured, and her community embraced her with open arms. She completed her high school education in Tigerville, SC, setting the stage for a life grounded in learning and growth.
Inez was preceded in death by her beloved parents, William and Gladys McGrew; her cherished husband, Jim Malloch; her loving son, Odell “Dale” Turner; her dear brother, Earl McGrew; and her furry companion, Semper Fi, along with many other beloved dogs.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, survived by her children, Odette Gentry, Rosette Boyter, and William Simpson; her grandchildren, Calvin Gentry and his wife Danielle, Carri Vincent and her husband Brian, Kim Conner and her husband Dana, Amanda Pruiksma and her husband David, and Kevin and Kendall Boyter; her great-grandchildren, Gage, Zoey, Jessie, Jennie, Adam, Matthew and Emily; and her sister, Barbara Bigley.
Private family services are being planned to honor Inez’s life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, reflecting her deep care for veterans, like her late husband.
Though Inez has departed this world, her memory will be forever cherished by those whose lives she touched. Her warmth, kindness, and adventurous spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
