WILMINGTON — Terri Stewart, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2026, in Wilmington, North Carolina. She was 72 years old.
Born on July 9, 1953, in San Antonio, Texas, Terri was the daughter of Laurel and Dewey Flaugher. From an early age, she embodied compassion and strength—qualities that would define her life’s journey. She pursued higher education at Michigan State University, where she laid the foundation for a meaningful career in service to others.
Terri dedicated her professional life to helping children find their voices as a speech and language pathologist for New Hanover County Schools. Her work touched countless lives and reflected her deep commitment to nurturing growth and communication in young people.
Terri’s heart belonged first and foremost to her family. She shared a blissful marriage with her husband Peter Stewart for 50 years—a union marked by enduring love and unwavering devotion. Together they built a life centered on faith, kindness, and mutual respect.
She was a devoted mother to Alison Bloom and the late Kelly Papst. Her love extended warmly to her sons-in-law Kevin Bloom and Chad Papst. As a grandmother, Mimi, to Chloe Bloom, Terri found immense joy and pride; her presence will remain a guiding light in Chloe’s life.
Terri is also survived by her mother Laurel Flaugher and brothers Jim and David Flaugher. She was preceded in death by her father Dewey Flaugher and daughter Kelly Papst.
A woman of deep faith, Terri lived out her beliefs through service—quietly but powerfully reflecting the love of Jesus in all she did. Her selfless devotion to others was not just an expression of character but a calling she fulfilled with grace every day.
A service honoring Terri’s life will be held on Friday February 27, 2026, at 7:00 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 514 South College Road in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Terri Stewart was the personification of love—steadfast in faith, generous in spirit, and endlessly devoted to those around her. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her.
