WILMINGTON — With profound sadness, we announce that Kyle Franklin Lackey, age 40, passed away in his hometown of Wilmington, NC, on November 28, 2025. Born on March 14, 1985, Kyle graced this world with a spirit that touched everyone he met.
Kyle was a shining example of kindness, compassion, and unwavering dedication to his friends and family alike. With a beautiful smile and personality that could light up any room, he left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. His love for family and friends ran deep, and he would always go out of his way to help a friend in need. His generosity and spirit of service were evident, earning him the rank of Eagle Scout; an honor that exemplifies leadership, dedication, and community service.
A proud graduate of Eugene Ashley High School on May 23, 2003, Kyle continued his pursuit of knowledge and personal growth, graduating from Cape Fear Community College.
Kyle is survived by his loving parents, Arthur Franklin Lackey and Patsy McArthur Lackey; his brother, Arthur Kevin Lackey and sister-in-law, Jenny Kastner Lackey of Hampstead, NC; his beloved nephew and niece, Arthur Owen Lackey and Airlie Hanalei Lackey, whom he loved dearly and was incredibly proud of; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins who will hold his memory dear in their hearts.
Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Kyle are invited to honor his life and legacy at a Visitation and Memorial Service, which will be held at Myrtle Grove Baptist Church on Saturday, December 13, 2025. Visitation will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by a Memorial Service starting at 2:00 p.m. The service will be officiated by Rev. William Kanupp and Rev. Dr. David Hodge.
As we remember Kyle, let us carry forward his spirit of kindness and selflessness. His light will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
