WILMINGTON — Jan Franklin “Frank” Dunlap, 77, of Carolina Beach, North Carolina, passed away on December 7, 2025, in Wilmington, North Carolina. He was born on November 6, 1948, in Roaring Spring, Pennsylvania.
Frank is survived by his son, Garrett Dunlap, and Garrett’s wife, Mili; his daughter, Melissa Dunlap, and her husband, Tim Inman; his brother, Eric Dunlap, and Eric’s wife, Judi; and his brother, Scott Dunlap, and Scott’s wife, Lori. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eva Moore Dunlap and Robert Graham Dunlap.
Frank dedicated 30 years of his career to the McKeesport Area School District as a teacher and reading specialist. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the California University of Pennsylvania and his master’s degree from Duquesne University.
A man of many passions, Frank loved music, especially the big band era and jazz. He also loved the beach, movies, and Corvettes. He was a proud member of Masonic Lodge No. 461 and volunteered with the Island Men community service organization for several years before his health declined.
Frank will be remembered for his gentle nature, caring spirit, and wonderful sense of humor. He loved his family, his friends, all dogs, and the beach. His warmth and kindness touched everyone who knew him.
In accordance with his wishes, Frank will be cremated and laid to rest in the family plot in Altoona, Pennsylvania. A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
He will always be fondly remembered and will remain in our hearts forever.
