WILMINGTON — Wayne Kemp, 66, passed away on November 5, 2025 after a courageous and mostly uphill battle with A.L.S. He was a devoted husband, father, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Wayne spent his career in Construction and Home Improvement, where he was known for his dedication and hard work. Outside of his professional life, he had a passion for sports, particularly football and basketball. He also cherished the time he spent fishing and enjoying the great outdoors.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Lorraine Kemp, as well as his brothers, Paul and Dennis Kemp. He is survived by his loving wife, Gloria, and his sons, Joshua Kemp and Brandon Kemp, who will carry forward his legacy of love and strength.
No services are currently scheduled. The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the family’s friend, Zach, who spent countless days with Wayne and family friends, whether putting up handrails early on, or hanging out on a Sunday to watch football with the guys. Everyday, he was trying to lift our spirits.
Also, a special thank you to Mayte, who would drop everything when Wayne needed meds, or a ride to Dr. appointments.
Another special thank you to his hospice nurses, especially D.J., with whom Wayne had a special connection. Thank you for taking such good care of us throughout his illness.
