SOUTHPORT — David L. Benson, 84, of Southport, passed away on Tuesday, November 5th, 2025 at his home. Born in Hudson, NJ, he was the son of the late Edward John and Helen Benson.
He met his first wife, Joanne, while serving in the Army in Alaska. There, David worked for APA Transport in North Bergen, NJ as a forklift operative until his retirement to Boiling Spring Lakes, NC, where he continued to indulge his love of fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Sharon Adriance Benson; three daughters, Debra Hoyt and husband, Carl, Cheryl Convery and husband, Phil, and Michele Lee and husband, Jim; stepdaughters, Leslie Baker and Jennifer Tyer; thirteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date in New Jersey.
