WILMINGTON — Damon Anthony Woods, Sr., aged 74, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2025, in Wilmington, NC. Born on August 5, 1951, Damon lived a life rich with love, dedication, and service.
Damon proudly served his country as a member of the Marines and Navy, where he developed a deep sense of duty and camaraderie. His passion for cooking led him to a distinguished career as a chef, culminating in his role as Executive Chef at Norwegian Cruiseline, where he delighted countless passengers with his culinary creations.
Beyond his professional life, Damon cherished spending time with his family, creating memories that will be treasured forever. He was also an avid basketball enthusiast, often found cheering on his favorite teams or taking to the court himself.
Damon was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Caroljean Iwalani Woods; his parents, Victoria Grant and Andrew Woods; his son, Damon Woods, Jr.; his brothers, Kenneth Woods and Keith Woods; his sister, Patricia Venson; and his brother-in-law, Raymond Ho’omana.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience in his surviving family: sisters Linda (Norman) Harris and Violet Ho’omana (Sister in Law); brother Marvin Venson (Patricia); children William (Deanna) Ho’omana, Cherlymoana Kamaili, Cherie (Cindy) Macanas, Issac Kamaili, Mei-Ling (Robert) Woods-Stevens, Lashanna (Sherroid) Harris, Deniece (Dave) Purgason, Devon (Lindsay) Woods, Darrelle (Chantel) Woods, Derrick Woods, and Cameoljade (Cameron) Waites. Damon was also a proud grandfather to 18 grandsons and 7 granddaughters, and a great-grandfather to 7 great-grandchildren, cousins, Cousin i laws and all nieces and nephews. Damon’s warmth, humor, and unwavering support will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Although his presence is no longer with us, his spirit will continue to inspire and guide his family and friends.
