Pamela Hodges, 78

Pamela Hodges (Andrews Mortuary and Crematory)

WILMINGTON — Wilmington lost one of its brightest lights and heaven gained a beautiful treasure: our precious Pam, born right here on September 26th, 1947, Pam married Wayne Hodges and never left the town or the people she loved.

When Sarah Konig and Melissa Hodges came into the family, Pam’s prayers were answered; she had always longed for daughters, and she loved Sarah and Melissa with the full, fierce love of a mom who finally got the girls her heart had made room for years earlier. She lived to spoil Trey, Bryana, Selinda, Katy, Lenue, and Wynn-6 grandchildren who proudly called her Grammy.

Above all, Pam loved Jesus with her whole heart. For decades she was a devoted Sunday school teacher, pouring scripture and kindness into generations of children. She faithfully served in women’s Christian mission groups, always ready with an encouraging word, a hot meal, or a fervent prayer for anyone in need.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Wayne Hodges; her sister Pat Formal and brother-in-law Charles Formal; brother-in-law Jimmy Coleman; sister-in-law Nancy Hodges; brother-in-law Cecil Ray and sister-in-law Estaleen Ray. Pam is now reunited with all of her loved ones who went before her- whole, healed, healthy, and happier than ever.

She leaves behind her sons Earl W Hodges Jr. and Marvin L Hodges; Her beloved daughter-in-laws Sarah and Melissa (the daughters she always wanted and cherished completely); grandchildren Trey, Bryana, Selinda, Katy, Lenue, and Wynn; sister Penny Coleman; brother-in-law James Hodges; and a lifetime of love that will never fade.

A private graveside service will be held for close family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, Pam would have wanted every family to set aside an evening- just one simple evening- to gather loved ones around the table, turn off the phones, laugh, talk, eat, and truly be together. That was always her idea of the perfect gift.

Services will be private.

Please leave condolences for the family here.
