Anthony “Tony” Leo Almony (Wilmington Funeral & Cremation)

WILMINGTON — Anthony Leo Almony came into this world in Annapolis, Maryland a bouncy 11lb boy on February 11th, 1977. He was the youngest of 5 children of Robert and Pamela Plumberg Almony. Anthony aka Tigger, Tony the Tiger, Big T, Uncle Tony was a much beloved, son, brother, cousin, uncle and great-uncle. Anthony went to his eternal rest on October 20th, 2025 in Wilmington, North Carolina.

As an infant and throughout his life he was faced with many physical as well as health challenges. He faced them with tenacity and humor as well as grace. Anthony grew up in Bowie, Maryland. He had an early love of movies and taught himself how to read and recognize the movie section of the Washington Post. He would watch the Muppets and then ask to watch Siskel and Ebert at the Movies. He would talk about if a movie was thumbs up or thumbs down. He knew directors and movie ratings and couldn’t wait to see his first PG movie, which his older sibling gladly took him to see behind their parents backs. With his siblings he swam on the swim team at Bowie Swim and Racket. He loved family trips going to Kansas City, Ocean City, Virginia beach or skiing as well as fishing and crabbing with his mom and dad. Adolescences was hard for him but he found his way at the Bennington School in Vermont. Anthony lost his mother to Lupus in 1994 and this took a toll on his sweet spirit. In 1995 he returned to Maryland where he lived till 2007. Anthony moved to Wilmington, NC to be close to his sisters. It was a very tough road for many years but Anthony overcame many obstacles with the help of Family, Friends, Church family and coworkers. He was able to eventually get his own apartment, have a job and a cat. Anthony worked for The McDonald family at Ambers Pumpkin patch in Murrayville. Later he went on to work for Lowes Food first as a bagger and then as a cashier. Anthony loved his job and was a top cashier for donations to the food bank as well as employee of the month. He was loved by his coworkers and customers.

Family was everything to him. He travelled by Amtrak to see his Maryland Siblings and father every chance he got. He loved spending time with his nieces and nephews and later great nieces and nephews. Traveling to where ever they were at the time. Maryland, Georgia, North Carolina. Anthony became a member of Wesleyan Chapel UMC but later changed his membership with his family to Wesley Memorial UMC. He worked in the Pumpkin Patch and was a regular attendee of The Gathering Place at Wesley Memorial UMC. Anthony will be missed by so many. Anthony is proceeded in death by his mother Pamela Plumberg Almony. He is survived by his Beloved cat, Little Kim. His father Robert Almony of Chesapeake Beach, Maryland, Lynetta Karlson, sister (husband) David, Casey Karlson (niece) Kenna Stacks, (husband) Bradley, Great niece Arya, great nephew Mylo of Wilmington. Nephew Calvin Karlson (wife) Samantha, great niece Madelynne of Liberty, North Carolina. Kimberly Almony sister of Chesapeake Beach, Maryland, nephew Leo Almony( wife) Bireet, great niece Michelle, great nephews, Joshua, Caleb and Levi of Huntington, Maryland, Dorothy Almony niece and (fiancé) Austin Hopson of Ownings Mills, MD

Robert Almony Jr (nephew) (wife) Casey, great niece Vivi of Chesapeake Beach, Maryland. Joseph Almony Nephew of Baltimore, Maryland. Tamara Price (sister) Mark (husband) of Fuquay Varina, North Carolina. John Lane Jr nephew, (wife) Jules, Great nephew John III, great niece Jamie of York, Pennsylvanian, Robert Lane nephew, (wife) Gloria and great nephew Robert Jr of Wendell, North Carolina, Jesse Lane nephew, (great nephew) Jesse (JJ) of Charlotte, North Carolina. The Family would like to thank Wesley Memorial UMC, church family, Lowes Food, Amber’s Pumpkin Patch, A Helping Hand of Wilmington, Downtown Medical Center (James and Cecilia Egger) Pride of NC (Janet and Dr. Robby Adams), Wilmington Endocrinology (Dr. Azizi) and all of his friends at The Gathering Place.
