WILMINGTON — David “Dave” Gene Bowie passed away on October 25, 2025 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC at the age of 63. He was born November 21, 1961 in Maryland to the late Virginia Dare and Bernard Bowie.
Dave was preceded in death by his loving wife, Brenda Bowie. They met in the fall of 1980 and fell madly in love. The two married December 9, 1981 and built a steadfast life with their three children.
Dave is survived by his three children; Kimberly Surcy (Blake) of Richlands, David B. Bowie (Alicia) of Jacksonville, NC, and Teresa Bevan of San Diego, CA; as well as his six grandchildren, Kayley Bowie, Aiden Gillispie, Brenna Bowie, Jaxon Surcy, Piper Surcy and Teagan Bevan. Additionally, extended family, Mark Thacker (Rachel) and their three children.
To Dave’s family, friends and colleagues, he is best remembered as a devoted husband, providing and protecting family man, spoiler of grandbabies, loyal friend, and one of the best sheet metal fabricators on the East Coast. He treasured time with his friends and family, especially his grandbabies.
The family will hold a private Celebration of Life service.
