WILMINGTON — Adam Cooper Lanier, of Wilmington, North Carolina, entered eternal rest on November 1, 2025 at the age of 41.

The son of Paul Jetter Lanier, Jr. and Deborah Elizabeth Ross, Adam was born on September 14, 1984 in Greensboro, North Carolina, the youngest of three children.

Adam graduated from Southwest Guilford High School in Greensboro, later attending Guilford Technical Community College. Over the last four years, Adam became an integral part of his work family at Roses in Wilmington. He manned register 4 with joy and was known for his ability to make customers and co-workers smile.

Adam enjoyed connecting with nature. He was particularly drawn to water and felt most at home with a fishing rod in hand listening to Pink Floyd. He deeply loved music and frequently played guitar for friends and family. Adam was known for his love of music and art.

Most of all, Adam loved his family, especially his daughter Trinity (12).

He is survived by his father Paul J. Lanier, Jr. and wife Libby Lanier (stepmom), Deborah Elizabeth Ross (mother), Shannon Lanier (sister) and Jeff Stephens (brother in law), Paul J. Lanier III (brother) and Virginia Lanier (sister in law), Paul “Jett” Lanier IV and Cal Lanier (nephews), daughter Trinity Lanier, step-sisters Lauren, Lindsay and Erin Tucker, plus the countless other loved ones and friends Adam collected along life’s journey.

Adam was preceded in death by his grandparents Paul J. Lanier, Sr. and Barbara Lanier Gray, Jason Douglas Ross and Pauline Cooper Harmon, and his uncle John Douglas Ross.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Good Shepherd Center or Tides Wilmington. These organizations are a blessing to many and offer a glimmer of hope to those struggling. The family knows this is the best way to honor Adam and his legacy of compassion.
