WILMINGTON — Sylvia Yvonne Marshall was born in Denver, Colorado on November 12, 1961 and she passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at Liberty Commons in Wilmington, NC. She was 63 years old.
Growing up, Sylvia loved doing anything outside. She loved basketball & skateboarding. She also loved the beach, her boat & fishing. Sylvia graduated from Cape Fear Community College with a degree in Electronics. She was previously employed at GE Air Craft Division.
She is pre-deceased by her father, Robert Marshall and her step-father, Richard Grime. She is also preceded in death by the love of her life, Matt Bruns, earlier this year. Together they had a small farm where they grew vegetables & many beautiful flowers & plants. What they weren’t able to use for food, was given generously to her family & friends. The rest was canned & saved for another day. They also had chickens, which meant everyone had plenty of eggs.
She was also environmentally conscious, using lumber, building supplies & recycling everything she could to help save the planet. Nothing went to waste.
She is survived by her mother, Dorothy Grime of Wilmington, NC; her four sisters, Renee Whicker (Larry) of Kernersville, Sarah Styers (Sam) of Wilmington, Peggy Adams of Wilmington, and Nancy Huffer (Jerry) of Wilmington. Sylvia has a large extended family that will miss her greatly. Her love of family was most important to her.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date with details to be announced by the family.
