WILMINGTON — William Ray Batchelor, 82, of Wilmington, NC died Saturday September 6, 2025 surrounded by family at Lower Cape Fear LifeCareCenter in Wilmington.
Ray was born in Nash County, NC on May 21, 1943 the son of the late Raymond and Ruth Cooper Batchelor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Phyllis Perry Batchelor; his brother, James Rudy Batchelor; his son, Kelly Ray Batchelor; his granddaughter, Kimberly Ann Batchelor; and his grandson, Justin Tyler Picarella.
Ray is survived by his son Kevin Batchelor and wife Mindy grandchildren Katelyn Hall (Hunter), Ashley Giles (Brenden), and Megan Batchelor; and his great-grandchildren Braxton Hall, Kaiser Giles, Riven Giles, and Lillia Giles. He also leaves behind a special cousin, Martha Everette, along with many extended family and friends who will cherish his memory.
Ray was a 1966 graduate of NC State where he received his engineering degree. After 35 years of dedicated service, William retired from the Army Corps of Engineers. He will always be remembered for the love he showed to others and the kindness he carried through every part of his life.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 9:00 AM until 10:30 at Wilmington Funeral Chapel. A graveside Funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM Oleander Memorial Gardens.
