WILMINGTON — It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Vance Theodore Moore, Jr, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, 96 years old of Wilmington NC who passed away peacefully on Monday September 8, 2025 surrounded by his loved ones.

Born on November 19,1928 in Everetts, NC, Vance lived a life marked by dedication to God, family, church and service to others. Vance, served in the Air Force during the Korean war. He returned home to attend and graduate with a degree in Accounting from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, he owned his own CPA practice for over 50 years. Vance touched the lives of many in the community through church, work and civic clubs.

Vance was a pillar of strength and love in our lives. he dedicated his life to family, raising 2 very strong and independent women with unwavering love and guidance even unto his death.

Vance is survived by his wife of 67 years, Peggy Carter Moore, his daughters Fern Moore Brown and LuAnn Moore Bartolo (Damon). He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Jennifer Lynne Burgess, Kelli Bartolo Mishoe (Michael), Robert Jacob Wilkins (Elise), Mary Vance Calhoun (Jonathan), Rachel Ann Simonsen, Peter Clark Wilkins and Gracie Wendell Bartolo. He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Jesse Clark Moore of Dunn, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents Vance and Lucille Moore, his sisters Louise Whitehurst and Annie Lee Coggins.

Visitation will be on Thursday September 11, 2025 from 1-2 pm with the memorial service immediately following at 2:30pm at First Christian Church, 2035 Oleander Drive, Wilmington, NC 28403.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the First Christian Church for the Shut In Ministry.

The family wishes to thank the dedicated staff at Spring Arbor and Lower Cape Fear Hospice, especially his Hospice Nurse Cindy Bode—who was always there for Vance and his family.
