WILMINGTON — Nannie Davis Dunn, 80, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 21, 2025, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice.
Born on August 31, 1944, in Kinston, North Carolina, Nannie was the daughter of the late John Bryan Davis and Ella Wheeler Tucker Davis. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard B. Dunn Jr., and is now reunited with him.
Nannie is survived by her loving children, Richard B. Dunn III and Nancy Elizabeth Dunn (Shelton Lowery), and by her cherished grandchildren: Hunter Hege, Conner Hege, Lilli Dunn, and Davis Dunn. She also leaves behind her dear sisters, Frances Benson and late Carolyn Cohen.
For more than 30 years, Nannie served as a dedicated second-grade teacher at Bradley Creek Elementary School, where she shaped countless young lives with patience, kindness, and a deep commitment to education. Known for her heart of gold and unmistakable sassy spirit, Nannie brought warmth and wit to every room she entered. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A private family service will be held in her honor.
