WILMINGTON — Alice Dawn Mallcheck, who graced this world with her presence on March 24, 1997, in Wilmington, NC, decided to embark on her next great adventure on Friday July 25, 2025, in Onslow County, NC. She was 28 years young, but she packed more life into those years than most do in a century.
From an early age, Alice had a zest for life that was as boundless as the ocean waves she adored on her trips to the beach. When she wasn’t crafting masterpieces with her arts and crafts or out in the wild perfecting her hunting skills, Alice was busy pushing her parents to the brink of sanity—a skill she honed perfectly through her teenage years.
A high school track enthusiast, Alice was always running toward something exciting, whether it was a new adventure or simply after her mischievous cat, Piper, who, like Alice, had a knack for mischief and leaving a trail of chaos in her wake.
Alice’s heart was not just filled with love for animals, but also a profound compassion for helping the unfortunate. Her spirit was as generous as it was fierce, much like her infamous debates over family dinners, which she usually won—though some might claim otherwise.
Alice leaves behind a loving family who will dearly miss her vibrant spirit, including her parents, Shane Harris and Bonnie Mallcheck, her ever-supportive aunt Dee Watkins, and her cousin Nikolas Watkin, as well as many other cousins survive. Piper, her feline partner-in-crime, will also feel her absence keenly, though probably not the lack of frequent baths.
She joins her paternal grandparents, Randy and Donna Haden Harris, and George and Alice June Buxton Mallcheck, in a place where we hope there are endless beaches, plenty of art supplies, and no shortage of critters in need of a loving heart.
To celebrate the incredible life of Alice, a memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM on Friday, August 8, 2025, at the Wilmington Funeral Chapel. Life Celebrant Samantha Kroes will officiate the service. In true Alice fashion, all attendees are encouraged to bring their best stories and a sense of humor, as she would have wanted.
Alice, you may have left this world too soon, but your laughter, love, and undeniable spirit will echo in our hearts forever. Rest in peace, dear Alice. Heaven just got a little wittier.
