WILMINGTON — AJ was born to Francis Parlatore and Elizabeth Justice Parlatore on June 28, 1942. He and his mother moved to Columbus County after his father died in 1943.
After graduating high school he joined the U.S. Army and served for two years as an MP in Vietnam. Upon discharge he moved to Wilmington and began his life long career as an engine builder and mechanic, working with several Nascar teams.
Later, he went to work at Cape Fear Community College, serving 18 years as a vocational instructor in the automotive department. Upon retirement from CFCC, he opened “The Pistol Shop” and continued with gunsmithing and engine builds until his death.
A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date.
