WILMINGTON — Wanda Gayle Brown, age 63, passed peacefully from her earthly life Friday, January 31, 2025 in Wilmington.
She was born July 18, 1961 in Pender County, the daughter of Lonnie Gray and Ann Elizabeth Wallace Jongema. In addition to her parents Wanda was preceded in death by her sister Cathy Clarke, sister-in-law, Ellen D. Miller and nephew Cody Forester.
Wanda is survived by her husband of 13 years, Jimmie Lane Brown, Jr.; sister, Theresa Downey (Lee); brothers, Mark Forester (Pattie) and Linwood Jongema (Mary); nieces, Brooke McMillian and Brandi Parrish; nephews, Levi Forester, Matthew Jongema, Zachary Jongema, Duanne Stevens and Bobby Dale; numerous much loved great nieces and nephews; adopted children of the heart, Misty Atkinson (Donnie), Tuesday Prevatte, and David Prevatte; stepchildren, Renee Brown, Melissa Helms, and Adryann Dvorak; and many extended family members and friends.
For many years, folks will remember Wanda as a manager at Taco Bell in Wallace. Also, in years past with a love for children even though Wanda had none of her own she worked in daycare and drove a school bus. Wanda was a loving lady who would do anything for anybody. Her presence in our lives will surely be missed.
A gathering of family and friends to share memories of sweet Wanda will be 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Jordans Chapel Methodist Church.
