SOUTHPORT — John P. Cardin, 75, of Southport, NC passed away February 2, 2025.
Born March 22, 1949 in Greenville, SC, he was a son of Daniel J. and Florence Geneva Cardin.
John loved the outdoors enjoying photography fishing and golfing in his leisure. He was an avid NC State fan. He was a very talented, giving man, with a fantastic sense of humor.
John worked as a land surveyor for the City of Tampa for 11 years and the City of Raleigh for 27 years.
He was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and will be missed by many in the congregation. John was a Vietnam era veteran of the U.S. Navy who served his country honorably in Ethiopia and Iceland.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Pat Cardin; his sons, James Cardin and his wife, Megan and Jared Cardin and his wife Kristin; four grandchildren, Annabelle, Liam, Cody and Leah; bonus-daughter, Susan Gattis; and bonus-granddaughter, Meghann; and two bonus great-granddaughters, Crystal and Carma; two siblings, Darlene Nolin and James Cardin; his former wife, Maureen Lafferty; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Kathleen Cardin; and a brother, Michael Cardin.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 noon on Friday, February 14, 2025 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Southport, NC.
