WILMINGTON — James “Jimmy” Elmore Watson, born November 28, 1962, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2024, in Wilmington, North Carolina, at Hospice, surrounded by family.
Jimmy was the cherished son of the late Ernest Elmore and Doris Irene Watson. He spent his formative years in the Seagate area, creating lasting memories with his siblings: Claudia Benton, Steve Griffin, Micheal Griffin, Buddy Watson, and Ernie Watson.
Known for his adventurous spirit and zest for life, Jimmy found great joy in riding motorcycles and watching sports—two passions that remained close to his heart throughout his life. Professionally, Jimmy was a highly respected Executive Producer for Swirl Films. His dedication and talent left an indelible mark on the industry and earned him the admiration of colleagues and friends. Among those closest to him were his best friends Eric Tomosunas and Christian Vickers, who shared in many of his life’s most meaningful moments.
Jimmy was a devoted uncle to seven nieces and nephews, six great-nieces and nephews, and one soon-to-arrive great-great-niece who will be named Briella Jimmielynn Benton in his honor—a heartfelt tribute to the legacy he leaves behind.
