LELAND — Maria D Rodriguez, 82, passed away December 10, 2024 peacefully at home in Leland, NC. She was predeceased by her loving husband Eliud S. Rodriguez in 2015.
Her legacy continues through her three children Carlos, Carmen, and Cedric, her 10 grandchildren, Limarie, Yanitza, Aaron, Jennifer, Tim, Cedric, Carlos, Karla, Joseph, Patrick, and her 22 great-grandchildren.
Maria was born and raised in New York. In her mid-twenties she moved to Puerto Rico to be closer to her seven siblings and her parents. There she met and married the love of her life, Eliud. Together they nurtured her love of travel and family while Eliud served in the U.S. Air Force. They moved back to Puerto Rico when Eliud retired and continued to travel while volunteering with the Disabled American Veterans. After 38 years they moved to Maryland to live with their daughter.
After Eliud’s passing, Maria became active at the South Carroll Senior Center in Maryland making great friends, creating beautiful ceramic keepsakes, taking exercise classes, and volunteering in the kitchen. She continued to travel with family and friends and was proud to call herself a Fun and Fabulous lady.
Maria was known as a kind person who loved life, cooking Puerto Rican food, dancing, and being a bit mischievous from time-to-time with her family, especially her grandchildren and her Fun and Fabulous gal pals. Maria will be remembered as a wonderful sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was cherished by those who knew her well and will live in our hearts forever.
