WILMINGTON — Brenda Alice Tully, a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on December 10, 2024 in Wilmington, NC, at the age of 72. Brenda was born on February 10, 1952, in Closter, NJ, and her life was a testament to love, dedication, and resilience.
Brenda attended Northern Valley Regional High School in Demarest, NJ, where she excelled both academically and athletically. She was named Female Athlete of the Year and was a standout player in basketball and field hockey—a legacy that still graces the hallways of her alma mater today. After graduating in 1970, Brenda married the love of her life, Thomas Paul Tully, in July of 1972. Together, they shared 42 beautiful years of marriage and raised three wonderful sons.
In 1993, the pair retired to Boiling Spring Lakes, NC, embracing the area and all it had to offer with open hearts. Brenda’s professional journey as a Medical Assistant spanned over 30 years, during which she provided compassionate care to countless individuals. Her dedication to her work was only surpassed by the boundless love she had for her family.
Brenda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas Paul Tully, Sr., her parents, Robert F. and Alice Compton, and her sister, Beverly Compton. She is survived by her cherished sons, Thomas Paul Tully, Jr. (Melissa) of Southport, Kevin Tully of Leland, and Brian Tully (Jess) of Southport; her adored grandchildren, Kendall and Luke Tully; her brother, Robert L. Compton; her sister, Barbara Oratio; and many other extended family members and friends who loved her dearly and will miss her greatly.
Family and friends will gather in memory of Brenda on Monday, December 16, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Wilmington Funeral & Cremation. A graveside service will immediately follow at Oleander Memorial Gardens, where Brenda will be laid to rest beside her husband.
