WILMINGTON — Clarinda Irwin, beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away on December 6, 2023, in Wilmington, NC. She was born on April 30, 1956, in Columbus County, NC. Clarinda lived a life filled with love, joy, and dedication to her family.

Throughout her years, Clarinda found fulfillment in being a devoted housewife and homemaker. Her commitment to creating a warm and loving home for her husband, John M. Irwin, and their daughter, Jessica Clark (Dustin), was unwavering. Clarinda’s nurturing nature extended beyond her immediate family, as she welcomed four step-children, Joshua, Robert, Albert, and Kayla, into her heart.

Clarinda had a passion for her family, and her grandchildren held a special place in her heart. Letty, Paisley, Na’koma, and Abigail brought immense joy and happiness to her life. She loved spending time with them, creating cherished memories that will be treasured forever.

In addition to her dedication to her family, Clarinda had a zest for life. She enjoyed shopping at flea markets, finding unique treasures, and handbags were her weakness. Clarinda also loved animals and found solace in their companionship. Traveling with her husband allowed her to explore new places and create lasting memories together.

Clarinda was preceded in death by her sisters, Claressa Cobb, Delma Small and her brother Laverne Small. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Beulah Small.

Clarinda leaves behind her sister, Millie Bishop, who will forever hold her dear in her heart. She also leaves behind a special friend, Lynn, whose friendship brought comfort and laughter into her life.

As we say goodbye to Clarinda, let us remember the beautiful moments she shared with us and the love she bestowed upon her family. May her spirit continue to guide and inspire us, reminding us of the importance of cherishing our loved ones and embracing life’s simple joys.

Rest peacefully, dear Clarinda. You will be deeply missed, but your memory will forever live on in our hearts.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 10, 2023 at 2 p.m. from the Wilmington Funeral Chapel. A visitation will be held one hour prior to service starting at 1 p.m.
