Haynes J. Blanton (Rockfish) 70 of Wilmington NC cast off in his ultimate wildlife adventure on November 29,2023 surrounded by his family after a long and courageous fight.
He was born on June 21, 1953, in Mullins, SC. He is preceded in death by his loving mother Pansy H Blanton and father Gradon M Blanton, nephew Jamie Blanton and his beloved dogs Train and Cain.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Carol W Blanton, his son Haynes J Blanton II and wife Mandi, grandchildren Austin (peanut) Blanton and Alyson (pookie) Blanton who were is most precious treasures and forever hunting buddies along with his loving lab “Sadie bug”. He is also survived by his brother Fern Blanton and wife Beverly, Sisters Mary Strickland and husband Bobby and Vicki Parker, Brother in-law Glenn Weddle. Loving nieces and nephews Tammy Green and family, Terry Blanton and family, Trae Blanton and family, Taylor Blanton and family, Maryann Blackwell and family, BJ McRae and family, Spencer Craven and family and CJ Parker and family and Karrie Weddle. He also has a special cousin Lynn Hyatt and his best friends and hunting/fishing buddies David Swain and Jordan H Grey.
The family would like to thank Dr. Sephanie Horan, MD of Novant New Hanover Medical Group and staff for their excellent care and compassion shown to John and his family during his battle. A special thanks also to Kathy, Olga and Colleen of Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center.
A Celebration of Johns life will take place on Friday December 8, 2023, at 1 p.m. at 7005 Ontario Drive Wilmington NC 28412. The family will receive friends and family at the home of his son John and wife Mandi along with his wife Carol at 6942 Ontario Road Wilmington, NC 28412.
