CAROLINA BEACH — Deborah Smith Gille, 65, of Carolina Beach, North Carolina, passed away on May 16, 2023 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, North Carolina.
She is survived by her husband, Roland, her mother, Joanne Smith-Spady, her brother, Gregory Smith, her children, Jael and Kali Gille, one grandchild, and 5 nieces and nephews.
Deborah was a beloved daughter, wife, and mother, whose smile lit up a room and enveloped anyone who saw it in warmth.
Deborah loved traveling, and was able to travel several years with her husband throughout the world and for her work as an attorney. She spent much of her time with her church family at St. James Parrish, where she particularly enjoyed the Women’s Wednesday Group. She was very active in community service, donations to charities, and helping anyone around her in any way she could.
A celebration of life for Deborah will be held on Wednesday, May 24 at 2 p.m. at St. James Parrish in downtown Wilmington, North Carolina. There will be a private stream of the service for family members abroad.
