WILMINGTON — Anna M. Kurtz passed away peacefully on October 28, 2022 in Wilmington, North Carolina with her eldest daughter Ann at her side. Beloved wife of Ted, they would have been married 64 years on 4/15/14. Ted predeceased his wife on 4/11/14. Anna was the incredibly loving Mother of Ann, Geraldine, Kenneth, and Jeanne, and devoted Grandmother to Nicholas Corrado, Julia Vilardi and Kyra Galantich. Ann’s husband Peter Waeger, Gerry’s husband Thomas Corrado, Ken’s wife Debbie and Jeanne’s husband Michael Galantich, as well as Nicholas’ fiancé, Gwen Allred and Julia’s husband, Tim Vilardi were all beloved by Anna.
Anna was also predeceased by her brothers, Pat, Bernie, Jack and Jim Dolan and her sisters, Margie Kipp and Katy O’Connell and is survived by her much-loved sisters-in law, Agnes Dolan, Joan Dolan and Rita Dolan, her numerous loving nieces and nephews, as well as her many cousins in Ireland.
Anna and her devoted husband Ted raised their family in Pelham Bay, The Bronx, New York and were devoted parishioners of the Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, where all their children attended grammar school. They moved to Wilmington, North Carolina over 30 years ago and joined a community of relatives numbering a dozen siblings, in-laws, nephews and nieces. Devoted to her family, her children are all successful professionals: Ann (Attorney), Geraldine (Nurse), Kenneth (Prosthodontist), and Jeanne (Speech Pathologist).
Anna was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend to all she met. She lived for her family, and the extended family will honor her memory. Anna loved to laugh and exchange stories with one and all as her friendly manner was willingly accepted by all who met her.
The entire Kurtz family thanks Anna’s primary caregiver and longtime friend from Home Instead, Sandy Glasgow, whose loving care undoubtedly contributed to Anna’s longevity. The family also thanks the care providers at the Davis Community, and in addition, all the family and friends who attended her two incredible 100th birthday celebrations, the first on 10/16/22 and the second on 10/22/22.
Donations in lieu of flowers would be greatly appreciated by the family to either the Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Wilmington, N.C. or to the Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception of the B.V.M. Eden Hill, Stockbridge Massachusetts, since Anna had such a strong devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon 11/2/22 from 3-6 pm at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel on College Road in Wilmington, N.C. and a funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday morning 11/3/22 at 10:30 am at St. Mark’s Church on Eastwood Road in Wilmington N.C.
