WINNABOW — Ronnie Lane Brown, Sr. 79, of Winnabow died Tuesday morning at his home with his family at his side.
Ronnie was born in Chinquapin, NC on March 24, 1942, the son of the late John Edward and Lucy Jane Horne Brown. After graduating high school he enlisted in the United States Airforce and then the United States Coast Guard. He would go on and spent 30 years with the Wilmington Police Department where he obtained the rank of Sergeant, and was well respected by the entire department that he so loved. Preceding him in death are brothers Jarvis; Chadwick and Foy Brown; sisters June B. Davis; Frankie B. Smith; Vallie B. Meadows; Agnus B. Sullivan and Irene B. Schwizer
Surviving are his wife Beryl Rose Baldwin Brown; son Ronne Lane Brown, Jr and wife Julie Canfield; daughters Shirley Melton and Frances Brown; brother Johnny Brown and wife Alice; sister Yvonne B. Scott; granddaughters Heather Melton; Dana Brown; Olivia Mckinley Cicatello and Miacarmella Cicatello and grandson Brandon Brown.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Friday March 11, 2022, at Wilmington Funeral Chapel with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park with full Wilmington Police Department honors. The family will see friends Pryor to the service in the chapel.
