SOUTHPORT — Thomas G. Williams, age 80 passed away on March 1, 2022, in Southport, North Carolina.
He was born in Toledo, Ohio on Friday, June 13, 1941, to Llewellyn Paul and Dorothy (Younker) Williams. He graduated from Scott High School in 1959 and from Toledo University in 1966 and 1969 where he was a member of Theta Chi Fraternity. After graduating from college Tom worked for DeVilbiss Co., Libbey-Owens-Ford in East Toledo and in Laurinburg N.C., WTA/BHF Systems, AVCA Engineering, and Matrix Technologies designing, installing, starting, and maintaining automated control systems in manufacturing plants across the United States and overseas.
Tom loved spending winters and visits throughout the year in Southport, NC. He had a passion for cooking and helping in Trinity’s kitchen for their Wednesday Nights Dinners. He enjoyed playing pool with his friends at the Southport and Toledo Senior Citizens Centers. He loved learning and problem solving with his engineering mind. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Southport, NC, and First United Methodist Church in Sylvania, OH.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Joan, sons Michael (Kimberlee) of Toledo, OH, Robert (Jennifer) of Wilmington, NC, and his daughter Mary Beth of Greensboro NC. Grandchildren Abigail and Grayson of Toledo, OH, and his brother Jim (Sallie) of Sylvania, OH.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 12, at 3:00 pm at Trinity UMC. Burial will be at Historical Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo, OH.
