WILMINGTON — Sue Ellen Hill Neese, 59, passed unexpectedly, but peacefully, Saturday, June 26, 2021, at home. She was born May 6, 1962, at James Walker Memorial Hospital, Wilmington.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Pearl and Elwood Hill; brother, Mitch Hill; and husband, Jack Neese.

She is survived by a brother, Lenwood Thomas Hill; niece, Amanda Hill Smith (Geremie); and two great-nieces, Summer and Kailie Smith, who she considered more like her grandchildren. She is also leaving behind many aunts, uncles and cousins that she dearly loved.

Sue worked as an EMT for New Hanover County for almost 15 years, starting in her early teenage years as a volunteer. She then went on to work at the Monkey Junction Exxon as a third-shift clerk for almost 20 years. She befriended many people in the community, along with many in the area law enforcement, through her years of employment. While working she also took care of her father after he suffered a stroke for about 11 years before his passing. She loved to play Scrabble, along with any type of puzzle or crossword. She had an infectious laugh that any friend could recognize. Sue made many friends over the years and never met a real stranger.

A calling hour will be held for family and friends from 2 to 3:30 p.m., Friday, July 2, at the Andrews Mortuary, 4108 S. College Road, Wilmington. A celebration of life service will follow at 3:30 p.m.
