WILMINGTON — Robert Anthony “Robbie” Rivenbark Jr., 44, unexpectedly passed away Sunday, May 16, 2021. Robbie was a loving father, son, brother, uncle and mentor to many lonely kids. Born in Wilmington, he spent most of his life growing up and living in the Silver Lake area of south Wilmington.

Robbie was a 1994 graduate on New Hanover High School, where he made many friends. After high school, Robbie attended Cape Fear Tech for the trade of machinist, but it was shortly after that in 1995, when he found his career in the outdoors world as a land surveyor learning his trade and developing his skills under the tutelage of another surveyor, John Benson. Robbie would go on to put his skills to work for other companies in the Wilmington over the years and train others about this trade.

He was a true outdoorsman. Tromping through the woods, he was completely at home. Fishing with his sons was his number-one pastime. He loved cooking, gardening, fishing and spending time with his family. He will be missed by all, including his precious cat Oreo.

Robbie was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Smith; paternal grandparents, George S. Rivenbark and Leatha Rivenbark Spencer; and uncle, Elwood Smith Jr.

Robbie is survived by his wife of 20-plus years, Jessica; and sons Bradley T. Rivenbark and Robert Anthony Rivenbark III all of the home. In addition, he is also survived by his parents, Robert A. Sr and Sharon S Rivenbark; sister, Kimberly Scott, and her husband, Bill; aunts and uncles, George and Dorothy Rivenbark, Donald and Eunice Smith and Ronald and Myra Rivenbark; mother-in-law, Chera Croom; father-in-law, Eddie Croom; sisters-in-law, Amanda Croom and Heather Ann Croom, all of the Wilmington area. In addition, there are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Robbie’s family would like to thank all of the friends and family, who are too numerous to name, who have been so supportive in this, our time of grieving.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 25, at Andrews Mortuary, 4108 S. College Road, Wilmington, where friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of services. The Rev, Horace Hawes will officiate. Interment will follow with a graveside service at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 1311 Shipyard Blvd., Wilmington. The Rev. Donald Smith Jr. will officiate. There will be a celebration of life gathering held at 1:30 p.m. at Arrowhead Park in the Silver Lake area. All guests are invited to come and celebrate Robbie’s life with his family and friends in his memory.

Robbie’s family would especially like to thank pallbearers, Bradley Rivenbark, Jason Rivenbark, Andy Rivenbark, Eli Coleman Jr., Tony Mallard, Jerry Mallard, Tim Edens and Mike Riggs; musician, Eric Metts; and catering, Harley Bruce, Poor Piggy’s Barbecue.
