HAMPSTEAD — Matthew Eli “Matt” Mizrahi, 32, died Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at his home. Matt was born Nov. 7, 1988, in New York to his parents, Jacob and Ann Strawbridge Mizrahi.

Matt was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who served oversees, officer Mizrahi joined the Wilmington Police Department in July of 2020. He was a quiet, hard-working, dedicated young officer who was well-liked by the community and members of his platoon.

In January, he saved the life of a 10-year-old girl in cardiac arrest by quickly administering CPR and remaining with her until paramedics arrived on scene. He did this expecting nothing in return and remained humble when the local media outlets broke the story.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Orion Mizrahi; son, Jacob Mizrahi; daughters Faith, Lily and Olivia Mizrahi; and brother, Oliver Mizrahi.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Monday, April 12, at Northside Baptist Church with full Military and Police Honors. Burial will be private. The Rev. Rob Strickland will officiate the service.
