BRANDENTON, Fla. — Shari Clements Bogen, 63, passed away Friday, Oct. 2, 2020.
She was born in Dayton, Ohio, and grew up in Beaver Creek, Ohio. Shari moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, after graduating high school and worked for social security.
In the mid 1980s, she moved to Raleigh with her then-husband and later to Wilmington in the early 1990s. Shari called Wilmington home since that time and raised her daughter, Alexandra, there.
Shari and Alexandra had a very close mother-daughter relationship and spent a great deal of time together. Shari worked as a hair stylist at many salons in Wilmington with the latest being the Harbor Club in Lumina Station, where she worked for over 10 years. She was well-respected for her classy taste as a stylist. She also worked at White House Black Market for approximately 10 years. She had a unique flair and always looked fabulous.
Shari spent much of her time taking care of her beloved pug, Sam. They would go on walks at Wrightsville Beach, Long Leaf Park and the Arboretum Gardens daily. She had a green thumb and turned any yard into an enchanted garden wherever she lived. She enjoyed the arts and music and could be found often at outdoor music venues. Shari was strong, hard-working, loving, hilarious, vibrant and kind. Above all, she loved the Lord. She had a strong relationship with Jesus and trusted him with her whole life.
Shari was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015. The cancer is what took her life in the end, but it never took her sparkle or hopeful attitude.
Shari was preceded in death by her dad, George L. Holdeman.
She is survived by her daughter, Alexandra Clements; mother, Velma Holdeman; brother, Mark Holdeman; nieces, Jessica Holdeman and Gabrielle Holdeman; nephew, Zeke Holdeman; and sister-in-law, Kelly Holdeman.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct. 17, in Wilmington. Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory, 604 43rd St., West Bradenton, Florida, is in charge of arrangements. Share online condolences with the family at Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory.
