WILMINGTON — Gerard Theodore “Jerry” Allard, 85, died Saturday, Oct. 10, 2020. He was born Aug. 20, 1935, in Trenton, New Jersey, the son of Gerard and Helen Allard.

Jerry retired from the U.S. Army after 23 years of service. He went on to serve as minister of the Four Square Church and was an active member of Wrightsboro United Methodist Church. He also served as a chaplain at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Jerry loved fishing and the beach. He had served as a Boy Scout leader, soccer coach and sponsor. He was also involved in mission trips with the church and WARM Projects.

He is survived by his wife, Alma Allard; daughter, Beth Sabatino, and her husband, Frank, and their children, Frankie and Heather; daughter, Denise Gabriel, and her husband, David, and their children, David, Devon, Daniel and Dyana; son, Craig Allard, and his wife, Celine, and their son, Nickolas; daughter, Sherri Jones, and her husband, Jasper, and their children, Brooke, Justine and Laura; two great-grandchildren, Frankie and Ashleigh; brother, Robert Allard; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 17, at Wrightsboro UMC. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the Davita Dialysis Center in Leland and Dr. Warhaftig.
