WILMINGTON — Robert M. “Maurice” Hobbs Sr., 92, died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2020, at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare, Wilmington.
Maurice was born June 27, 1928, in Sampson County to the late Isaac Middleton Hobbs and Emma Bennett Hobbs. Maurice’s wife of 54 years, Mourine P. Hobbs, preceded him in death; as well as his sister, Frances Bowles; and brother, Charles Hobbs.
Surviving are his three children, Paula Hobbs Greene, and her husband, Lee, of Elizabethtown, Elizabeth “Beth” Hobbs Pearsall, and her husband, Mark, of Rocky Mount and Robert M. Hobbs Jr., and his wife, Julie, of Darien, Connecticut; five grandchildren, Annie Greene DeGarmo (Justin), Lane Greene (Samantha), Stephen Pearsall (Emma), Ashley Pearsall Lanier (Adam) and Megan Hobbs; four great-grandsons with a fifth on the way; brother, Harold Hobbs; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Due to the pandemic, a private family graveside service will be held at Oleander Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to his beloved Acme Presbyterian Church, 107 Highway 87, Riegelwood, NC 28456; or to ADR Fire and Rescue, P.O. Box 187, Riegelwood, NC 28456.
