
WILMINGTON — Andrew “Andy” Wright, 42, died Saturday, May 4, 2019, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice after battling brain cancer.
Andy is survived by his wife, Melanie Moe; two sons, Gavin and Collin Wright; two stepchildren, Anabel and Hayden Bryant; parents, Jack and Valerie Wright; siblings, Connie Murray and John Wright; as well as nieces and nephews, Erin and Tyler Murray and Grace and Justin Wright.
Andy was born in Pennsylvania and grew up in Raleigh, where he graduated from Millbrook Sr. High School. Andy graduated from the Wake Tech EMS AAS Degree Paramedic Program and began his career at Garner EMS. Andy joined the New Hanover Regional Medical Center EMS System in 2004 and joined AirLink/VitaLink as a flight paramedic in 2009. He was promoted to Manager of P.R. Outreach and Business Development for AirLink/VitaLink in 2018.
Throughout his life, Andy impacted and saved the lives of many people. He was a dedicated family man who enjoyed snowboarding, surfing, boating, hiking and traveling. He loved life and surrounded himself with people he loved and those who loved him.
A celebration of Andy’s life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, June 9, at Shell Island, Wrightsville Beach.
