WILMINGTON — “The King of Pretzels” has arrived in Wilmington. Crofton’s Pretzels, a locally-owned pretzel shop opened its doors Saturday.
Bringing Philly-style pretzels to town, Aidan Crofton’s new venture is simple. With four menu items, Crofton’s Pretzels hopes to be the region’s go-to pretzel spot.

Raised in Philidelphia, Crofton spent eight years in the Marine Corps and recently decided to settle in Wilmington. He hopes Wilmington grows to love pretzels as much as he does.
“It’s just the worlds best snack food,” he said. “You can eat it anywhere.”
Cara Crofton, his wife, agrees.
“Anytime; breakfast, lunch, and dinner,” she said. “Which is what we’re doing.”
Each pretzel is vegan. Classic pretzels are made with just flour, water, yeast, and salt. Some dips are also vegan, and gluten-free soft pretzels are available.
“Anybody can come in here and get something,” Aidan Crofton said. “It’s not excluding anybody.”
With four different mustard flavors, honey mustard, cheddar cheese, and icing dip options, Crofton said he is looking to expand on available dip options.
Food-grade lye makes a pretzel a pretzel, Crofton said. All pretzels are hand-twisted, salted, and baked.
Crofton’s Pretzels offers classic soft pretzels and stuffed, specialty pretzels. On Tuesday, stuffed muenster bacon, spinach artichoke parmesan, and buffalo pretzels were available on special.
“It’s purposefully simple,” Crofton said of his menu. “It’s a local business, it’s a community business.”
Craft beer lovers in the region may have already tried one of Crofton’s Pretzels. The pretzels are currently available at Flying Machine Brewery, HEY!BEER, and The Sour Barn.
Crofton’s Pretzels is now open at 6014 Oleander Drive. Check out Crofton’s Pretzels on Facebook to keep up with new specials.
