WILMINGTON — Leo Daryl Lemmond, 70, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2018, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice.
He was born Nov. 9, 1948, in Matthews. He was the son of the late Allen and Viola Lemmond of Matthews and the youngest of eight children.
He was preceded in death by his brother, John Lemmond; and sisters, Bobbi Gray and Teri Smart.
Leo attended East Mecklenburg High School and graduated from St. Louis College in 1987 with a B.A. degree in data processing and system analysis and programming. He worked for Sterling Commerce in informational technologies and software implementation for 15 years.
He honorably served with the U.S. Army 1st Air Cavalry Division with tours of duty in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1970.
Leo is survived by Carolyn, his devoted wife of 21 years; brothers, Sonny, Larry and Mike; sister, Sheila; brother-in-law, Rudy; stepdaughter, Alison (Kent); stepson, Michael (Sierra); grandchildren, Matthew, Marlie and Vanya, and many wonderful nieces, nephews and friends he loved so dearly.
He was a devoted member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church and the Wesley Fellowship Sunday School Class.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 1, at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
