SUPPLY — Benny Lee Hewett, 65, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2018, at Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center.
He was born April 9, 1953, in Brunswick County, the son of the late, Albert Covington Hewett Jr. and Lila Coleen McCall Hewett and was preceded in death by a daughter, Tony Lee Hewett; and a brother, Michael Allen Hewett.
Benny loved working on the river.
Surviving are his longtime companion, Glenda Hewett of Supply; two sons, Benny Lee Hewett Jr., and his wife, Tina, of South Carolina and Ike Hewett, and his wife, Velina, of Tennessee; daughter, Serita Dyson, and her husband, Charlie, also of Tennessee; brother, John Albert Hewett, and his wife, Mary Ann, of Supply; two sisters, Sandy Fulford, and her husband, L.C., of Supply and Tammy Dickson, and her husband, Tim, of Shallotte; seven grandchildren, Brittany and Ashley Dyson, Mary and Cephus Hewett, Benny Lee Hewett III, Jake and Thenise Dyson; two great-grandchildren, Neviah and Grace Jones; several nieces and nephews; and a very special cousin, Debbie.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Nov. 16, at Union Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Regan Mintz and the Rev. Jim Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Church Cemetery. There will a time of visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers will be Jason Hewett, Tyler Hines, Clay Hines, Dakota Hewett, Tray Hewett and Justin Fulford. Honorary pallbearers will be Jake Dyson and Jonathan Ivey.
