
WILMINGTON — James Noah “Jim” Williamson, 78, went to be with the Lord Friday, March 2, 2018.
Jim was born June 1, 1939, in Pikeville, Ky., son of the late Lonnie and Lula Williamson. He was also preceded in death by his stepmother, Trudy Williamson; and brothers, Kermit Williamson and Garrett Williamson.
Jim was both an Awana leader and a member of the Gideon’s for approximately 20 years. Jim was also an active member of the Baptist Church acting as a deacon and trustee and working as a bus driver and a mechanic.
Jim is survived by his wife of 57 years, Eleanor Williamson; sons, Randall, and his wife, Patty Williamson, and David, and his wife, Michelle Williamson; grandchildren, James, and his wife, Kawani Williamson, Kenny Williamson, Joe Matthews, and his fiancé, Rieal Shoemake, Janielle Doherty and Caitlyn Williamson; great-grandchildren, Lily, Jewels, Bella, Tammy, Shay, Harland, Hazel, Logan and Elijah; and several nieces and nephews.
It’s not every day you get the chance to know such an extraordinary man. Jim had an immeasurable faith, integrity and strength as well as an undeniable endearment. He was truly unparalleled as a husband, father and friend. He will be sorely missed.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, March 7, at New Hanover Church, 318 Silver Lake Road, Wilmington, with Pastor Joe Santee officiating.
A memorial service in Kentucky will be announced at a later date.
