WINNABOW — Ovie Scott III, 39, died Friday, Feb. 9, 2018, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center after a short illness. He was born April 10, 1978.
He loved football, golfing, fishing and NASCAR. Ovie loved his children and his family tremendously. His smile was contagious and he never failed to make everyone laugh.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ovie Scott Jr. of Bolivia; father-in-law, the Rev. Charles West of Winnabow; sister-in-law, Amee West Brown, and her husband, Frankie Brown; paternal grandparents, Alice and Ovie Scott Sr. of West Virginia; maternal grandfather, James Ervin of West Virginia; and grandmother, Mary Ervin of Winnabow.
He is survived by his children, Cassidie and Colten Scott, and their mother, Sonya West Scott, of Leland; mother, Jane Sue Scott of Leland; sister, Melinda Ervin McFarland of Texas; and girlfriend, Karie Phillips of the home. He is also loved and survived by his mother-in-law, Cindy West Sellers, and her husband, Donald, of Winnabow; sister-in-law, Brandi Keeter, and her husband, Skeeter, of Winnabow; and many numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will cherish his memory.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m., Friday, Feb. 16, at Life of Victory Everlasting Ministries, 1444 Lanvale Road, Leland. The family will receive friends following the service at 6823 Kilians Way, Leland.
