William Jennings Bryan, 82, talented conversationalist who had the gift of gab

WILMINGTON — William Jennings Bryan, 82, passed away Friday, Jan. 26, 2018, after a courageous battle with lymphoma cancer.

He was born June 18, 1935, to Kedar and Josephine Bryan, who preceded him in death.

William is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Shelba Bryan; son, Michael; daughter, Karen; grandchildren, Mary Lauren, Kader, Briana and Frankie; and great-grandchild, Eathen.

William was a proud Master Mason as a member of Orient Lodge No. 395 A.F. & A.M. for the past 50 years, member of AREME Chapter No. 372 OES, a veteran of the U.S. Army and longtime member of BPO Elks Lodge No. 532. He was employed with Babcock & Wilcox until the early 1980’s and retired from General Electric in 2000 to compete his career.

He had a great gift of gab and many talents. He will be missed by his family, friends and acquaintances. William never met a stranger.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 1, at Wilmington Funeral Chapel. The family will see friends beginning at 1 p.m. until the service time.
