WILMINGTON — Michael Jeremy Groves, 41, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2018, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
He was born May 18, 1976, in Wilmington. Michael’s daughters were the love of his life, and they always brought a bright smile to his face. He also loved fishing, the UNC Tar Heels and the Carolina Panthers. His secret passion was sitting up late at night with his dog Oscar watching General Hospital.
He is survived by his two daughters, Cora Stephens and Rachel Watson; mother, Pam Cox, and stepfather, Gary; father, David Groves; soulmate, Kelly Westermann; two brothers, Mathew Groves (Lisa) and Richard Cox; sister, April Cox; niece, Bethany; and nephews, Scotty and Brandon. Also remembered are his paternal grandparents, Walter and Mildred Groves; and maternal grandparents, Lucille and Dal Hardison.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 5, at Andrews Hampstead Chapel. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Sea Lawn Memorial Park.
Michael’s family will cherish his memory and are comforted by the knowledge that he and his grandparents are sharing heaven together with Jesus.
