OCEAN ISLE BEACH — William Lewis Barnes Wester, 83, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2018.
He was born Jan. 21, 1934, in Robeson County, a son of the late James D. Wester and Foy Caledonia Barnes. William served on the North Carolina State Board of Refrigeration Examiners and was a member of the Pointers Field Trials Association. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Surviving are his wife, Sue Ellen Wester; son, Dan Wester of Lumberton, N.C.; daughters, Angie Wester of Proctorville, N.C., and JoAnne Britt (Clegie Chambers) of Leland, N.C.; brother, Charles Wester (Linda) of Fairmont, N.C.; four grandchildren, Benjamin Framsted, Jessica Fill, Tyler Wright and Michael Chambers; two great-grandchildren, Arabella and Gavin Fill; and special friends, Barbara Locklear and Juanita Davis.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 4, in the Chapel of Brunswick Funeral Service, Shallotte. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
